Glass, gold wire and the carved walnut stopper.

01 — The product in 10 secondsMARCELLA

Premium · aged in oak

What it is
A round 1.5 L decanter with gold filigree wire, a carved walnut stopper and a dome-shaped walnut coffret.
Who it is for
Premium whisky gifting and collectors who value the decanter as a display object.
The problem
The original glass was 1.25 mm thin, the stopper was glass on glass and the coffret pocket had no clearance.
What is different
3 mm walls (6 mm under the punt), the largest EU spirits size that keeps headspace, a synthetic-cork bar-top under the carved head and a pocket re-cut with 1.0 mm clearance.

02 — The design challenge

Too thin to make, too tight to box.

The original decanter had 1.25 mm glass, a glass-on-glass plug and a coffret pocket with −0.03 mm clearance and an undercut. The 2026 model keeps the drawn size and the outer revolve.

The decisions that shaped it.

Decision 01

Size kept, walls made real

The glass is the outer profile revolved and offset 3.0 mm at the sides and 6.0 mm under the punt.

Decision 02

A standard fill

Decision 03

A stopper designed to seal

The carved walnut head sits on a Ø26.9 × 20 mm synthetic-cork shank in a Ø25.9 bore. Cork grade and compression still need a closure supplier.

How it is built.

CAD-developed glass, closure and coffret geometry. The coffret lid is still the original open surface — a real lid needs a wall and a lining.

Engineering notes the longer story

MARCELLA was a round decanter with gold filigree wire, a carved fan stopper and a dome-shaped walnut presentation box. The original glass was 1.25 mm thin, the stopper was glass-on-glass, and the coffret pocket had no clearance.

The 2026 model keeps the drawn size and outer revolve, and gives it 3 mm walls (6 mm under the punt), the largest EU standard spirits fill that leaves headspace, a synthetic-cork bar-top under my carved head, and a pocket re-cut as the insertion envelope. Sealing and cork compression still need a closure supplier and a physical test.
